When I think of “pink kimono,” one thing comes to mind: Shichi-Go-San. Written as 七五三, the numerical characters for 7-5-3, it is a Japanese festival and rite of passage for boys and girls aged three, five, and seven years old on November 15th. Children typically dress formally in traditional kimonos and visit their local shrines with their families to wish for a long, healthy life.
Shichi-Go-San is supposed to be a joyful day for a girl, where one gets to dress up like a princess, have hair and makeup professionally done, receive candies, pose for studio photos, and even get complimented by strangers on how pretty and cute you are.
Key word: supposed to be. Case in point:

For this little peach, Shichi-Go-San was all wrong from the moment I awoke that day. My baby front tooth was feeling very loose, and on that morning, it finally fell off. I kept sticking my tongue where the tooth used to be, uneasy with the new gap in my mouth. That, coupled with the greasy feel of bright red lipstick and heavy pink kimono on my tomboy self, made me extremely uncomfortable.
No matter how much the photographer tried to coax a smile out of me, I wasn’t going to let him see my usual toothy smile, much less document it forever with his camera. So while the rest of my family looked happy in our photographs, I was the only one sporting a frown.
It would have been a sweet, charming memory had I been a good sport and cracked a smile. But in retrospect, it was a hilarious family event that is sweet and charming in its own right. It’s something that never gets old in my family and elicits hearty laughs. Today, I wear?Dior Pink Kimono?with this fond childhood memory in mind.

Dior Pink Kimono (Rose Kimono)?is a cool-toned pink with a blue undertone. It is a dusty pink in the bottle, but the color amplifies on the nails into a bolder, brighter pink, especially with multiple coats. Because it is cool-toned, it may look better on those with cool-toned skin, but the boldness of the color makes it wearable on my warm, yellow-based skin.
Like my 7-year-old self at a photo studio on Shichi-Go-San, this isn’t the easiest to work with. It has a jelly formula which applies semi-opaque and slightly patchy. 2 coats still showed unevenness and few bald spots, so I applied 3 coats for full opacity. You may be able to get away with 2 coats, but I found slow, careful application to be crucial with this polish.

Like most of Dior’s solid colors, this has their classic hidden shimmer that I can only detect under direct light in the bottle, and just barely on the nails. As a jelly polish, the finish is a squishy look that is glossy under the light.
Dior Pink Kimono is a fun, bold, attention-grabbing pink that girly and playful. The jelly formula takes an extra coat if you prefer a completely opaque finish, but the end result is fingers that look as if they’re adorned with candies. It is currently $22 and part of Dior’s permanent Vernis line, available online at Dior.com, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom (since last month), and at Dior Beauty boutiques and counters worldwide.

I purchased it in the past month. I’m not too familiar with shopping in Canada, but is it The Bay that you went to? Did you end up picking up Tuxedo?

I usually just went to the bay =] , dior.com,Nordstrom dun ship to Canada, SFA doesnt ship nail polish to CA??it says sth tariff so cannot ship to CA T,T
I didnt pick up tuxedo becuz i have yoga ta get this blue, after seeing the swatches on TPF, i think im not going to get it

I did a search on eBay Canada and came up with a couple of results for Pink Kimono.

Yeah, unfortunately. But no tax outside of California and free shipping over $100. They have limited edition and older collections Chanel, Dior, etc.
