The holiday season is my favorite time for nails; not only do fashion houses give us party-ready colors and dark, vampy hues, I can usually count on at least one of them to launch a gold nail polish. Dior took the liberty this year in the form of Or Divin (that’s Divine Gold in French, ma ch?rie. )
As a gold lover, I’ve accumulated a few other gold polishes, but this one filled a gap in my collection that I never knew I had. Unlike most of them that mimic 24-carat gold, Or Divin reminds me of soft glow from candles and Christmas lights for undeniably festive nails.

One major element that sets?Or Divin apart from other golds is its paleness. Especially in indirect sunlight, it shows its pale gold base color that heavily leans yellow (instead of orange.) Shimmer and streaks are diffused so it appears like a “glow” of light rather than a metallic color.
I can’t stop stealing a glance at my nails every so often in indirect light as each nail looks, to me, like a little golden goose egg! The surface appears so smooth, the edges dark, with the nail appearing especially round and 3D. I love the depth.
Streaks are visible under direct light, thought not too noticeable at an arm’s length. The orange-gold micro-shimmer peeks through and gives a slight warmth to the pale gold base. There’s a “smokiness” around the edges that still keeps it looking soft and diffused, not bold and loud.

Perhaps due to the gold pigments, this sheer polish applies with streaks and patches. 2 coats still showed the nail lines, so I applied 3 coats. It’s not the easiest polish paint, so I recommend taking your time during application and letting each coat dry completely. (No worries — it dries fast like a typical Dior Vernis.)
For lovers of gold, Or Divin is a must-have. I also recommend it for those who’d like to wear gold, but feel 24k gold doesn’t suit their skin tone. It’s paler and less warm-toned than orangey golds, making this more wearable for those who are cool-toned.

naaa! Still no Holiday Collection here. But I read on the I-Net that they will release the colors here on Friday 11th.
